Wingspan: 16-20mm

A univoltine species on the wing from May to early July when it comes only rarely to light. It has been recorded only from the lower garden trap and is a species of various habitats where its foodplant occurs.

Larvae feeds on blackthorn before overwintering as pupae in a tough cocoon on the ground.

A univoltine possibly bivoltine species flying from April to September when it comes readily to light and has been recorded from all garden and outlying traps. A species with a preference for conifer plantations.

Larvae feed on Scots pine and spruce before overwintering as pupae.
